Dark Season 2 Review

Season 2 of Dark is a Netflix Original German TV show that released on Netflix on June 21, 2019. Yet again, another brilliantly made, ambitious, and highly entertaining season.

Just like the first season, I won’t comment on the cast directly since they all spoke in German so I had to listen to the English voice over version. The voice overs were still a little distracting at times, but not awful. I just feel as if you lose some of the emotion with the voice over. Therefore, I may try to watch the show again in German with English subtitles to see if I prefer that version more. There are a lot of cast members in this show and I felt as if they did a great job selecting the right people for the roles.

The main positive of this season again is the story. It is just so different than other shows. It doesn’t try to copy or replicate what other shows have done, it goes completely in it’s own directions. It is such an ambitious show that it is honestly just hard to not appreciate it. In my opinion, this season takes even more risks than the first one did. It brings in “new” characters and takes the characters from season one in new directions. Differently than most shows, Dark doesn’t keep any character safe. No one is safe in this show and it always finds a way to go the unconventional route which I really enjoy seeing. When watching this I felt like I just saw the craziest thing ever and that nothing could top it. However, then about fifteen minutes later or in the next episode something even crazier happened. There are just so many ideas in this show and it is insane how well they were able to mesh it all together this season. There was so much care put into crafting this spectacle of a show and I honestly love it. This season was so good that Dark has probably become one of my favorite TV shows ever. Each episode by itself is a stunning spectacle and combining all of them into a season just makes it purely amazing. The final episode of this season is a masterpiece in my opinion and basically allows them to go in whatever direction they want for next season. I am really hopeful that season 3 will be as good as this one was.

In season 2 the only minor complaint that I had was that it was only eight episodes. I wish that they could’ve went up to 10 like last season or even 12. Now I have to wait a year or more for new episodes, but that is okay because I will probably be rewatching this again.

Dark is a show that I would recommend anyone and everyone to watch. It is just so entertaining and offers so many good questions that really makes the audience think about what they are watching. I appreciate all of the work put into crafting this amazing story. If you haven’t seen Dark I would definitely recommend checking it out! I also believe that this season was even better than the first, and that is saying a lot since I loved the first season as well.

Rating- 9.5 out of 10 on the scale of awesomeness.
