Deadpool (2016) Movie Review

Deadpool was released on February 12, 2016 and directed by Tim Miller. This review could be slightly biased because this is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.

The movie covers Deadpool’s origin (duh). It goes through how he gets his cancer cured to gain superhuman abilities which then makes him look almost like a version of Freddy Krueger. The rest of the movie is about him trying to find the man that made him look the way that he does. I completely love this story as it perfectly balances the comedy and action. It is also so awesome to see a superhero act the way that Deadpool does.

The cast in this movie is exceptional as every character pulls their weight. Ryan Reynolds is absolutely amazing as Deadpool. You can tell that he really cares about the character as he pours everything into his acting. He really is the perfect Deadpool to me and I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing it. Morena Baccarin is also really good as Vanessa. You don’t really see her a lot in the movie, but she is good for the parts that she is in. Karan Soni is great as Dopinder as he adds a lot of comedy to the movie as the taxi driver and him and Deadpool have a lot of very funny exchanges. The cast in this movie was very good and I didn’t see any problems in this department.

This movie is very unique for many reasons. The first is that Deadpool cusses… a lot… and it’s not a bad thing. I very much enjoy seeing a superhero saying a lot of bad words. There is also a lot more blood and violence in this movie which is different than all other superhero movies. This makes it a really good choice for older and mature audiences. Deadpool also knows that he is just in a movie so that makes for a lot of very funny fourth wall breaks. This character is just amazing and he is one of the coolest characters from Marvel.

Deadpool is definitely one of my favorite movies as he is very charming and funny. I thought that the story of this movie was mostly well done. There were a few mishaps along the way like some lackluster CGI in parts and a couple weird fight moments. However, this movie is near perfect in my opinion and there isn’t a boring part in it. I give Deadpool a 9.5 out of 10 on the scale of awesomeness as it is just… AWESOME.
